Mango’s two founding directors are actively involved in running the company and engaging with customers:

Managing Director - Matthew Aldridge BA
Matthew has worked for some of the major Business Intelligence and data mining vendors including Business Objects, Cognos, Insightful and Accrue. Working primarily in sales related roles Matthew has worked with and solved problems for a variety of blue chip and start-up companies implementing Business Intelligence and data mining solutions. In his spare time, Matt makes full use of his managerial talents to run an U13 boys football team.
Technical Director - Richard Pugh BSc
Richard has many years experience working with data analysis products and specializes in SAS and S-PLUS. He has a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics from Bath University and has worked in the pharmaceutical and financial sectors as a technical consultant. Prior to setting up Mango Solutions with Matt, Richard held a Pre Sales role for Insightful working with customers, running training courses and managing projects. Richard is a keen and talented member of Bath Light Operatic Group.

Operations Director - Nicola Carley
Nicola joined Mango Solutions as Operations Director in late 2009. Nicola’s career in Information Communications Technology has spanned nearly 20 years. Initially, she was responsible for delivering training to both public and private sectors with a client base across UK & NW Europe. She moved into telecommunications’ delivery in 2003 and as the Service Delivery Director, was pivotal in establishing a new company, focussed on building and sustaining an award winning service portfolio. By bringing her energy and commitment to Mango she will ensure the customer focussed support of projects throughout their lifecycle. Nicola likes to spend her free time with her family in the countryside, walking, running or falling off her bike.
Project Manager - John James MA (Cantab)
John is a mathematician who has a wide background in technical and IT systems. After his degree at Cambridge he worked on Underwater Weapons and then on structures and machinery in the North Sea. This lead to him working as a Systems Analyst in the Middle East for a number of years followed by managing software projects in Germany and France. John was the Senior Technical Consultant in Europe for the statistical program S-PLUS for 10 years before joining Mango Solutions as Senior Consultant. John has continued his mathematical work in both Pharmacometric and Financial systems and has worked for a range of clients in the US as well as closer to home. He has strong system and database skills, is well versed in R/S as well as a range of development languages such as Perl, C# etc. John has in-depth knowledge of Linux and is involved with many of Mango’s Grid/Cloud computing based projects. He will bore you to death about Scuba Diving at any time.
Project Manager - Michael Creed BSc
Michael joined Mango with detailed knowledge and experience of delivering software projects in heavily validated environments such as Financial Services. Michael has managed development projects for over four years and has worked for companies such as Accenture, ABN AMRO, Lloyds TSB and Avaya. Michael’s technical expertise is within J2EE application architecture and development.
Project Manager - Dylan Browne MSc
Dylan joined Mango as a Java developer in 2005 and has progressed through to managing several major projects. His major development work at Mango has included a NONMEM post-processing tool and a web application producing interactive graphical output. Having gained a MSc in Computer Science from Bath University, he has more than twelve years experience in software development in various sectors, including pharmaceutical, telecommunications and geographical information systems.
IT and Quality Manager - Martin Farrimond
Martin joined Mango in 2007 with a career history including over 20 years with Hewlett Packard in both the UK and Germany. A fluent german speaker, Martin has worked on various Mango projects as well as establishing and controlling our Quality Management system.
Product/Project Manager - Jonathan Chard MSc
Jonathan joined Mango in May 2008 with 17 years experience in the software industry, gained in sectors including banking, scientific and health. He has an MSc in Software Engineering from Teesside University and a degree in Mathematics with Computation from Loughborough University. Most recently he successfully managed the DDML project which went live on schedule for Novartis in December 2009.
R/S-PLUS Consultant - Francisco Gochez MSc
Francisco holds a BSc and a MSc in mathematics from Imperial College London, and has worked at Mango Solutions as an R/S-PLUS programmer since 2007. During this time, he has delivered many R training courses, developed R code for a number of applications and packages, and served as an R/S+ consultant in a number of industries including the financial, actuarial, and oil and gas sectors. He also contributes to open source R development including the Rmetrics project, to which he has contributed the BLCOP package which he wrote while at Mango. He was a presenter at UseR! 2008 and the Rmetrics conference in 2009.
R/S Consultant - Richard Weeks PhD
With a PhD in Quantum Gravity from the University of York, Richard joined Mango in 2008. He leads R and S training courses worldwide and is involved in Mango’s sales activities. Richard grew up in the valleys, was educated in Welsh and still lives in Wales. In addition to his sales and training commitments Richard is also involved in project work and statistical support.
R Consultant – Chris Campbell PhD
Following his BSc in Biochemistry from Imperial College London, Chris investigated implantable polymer drug delivery systems for his PhD at the University of Bath Chemical Engineering department. Chris used mixed models in R to describe between-batch variation of drug release. Chris performed quantitative image analysis for Prof Guy’s Skin group at the University of Bath Pharmacy and Pharmacology department, also in R. As a new member of the Mango Solutions team, Chris is interested in delivering statistical tools to where they will be most effective.
Switzerland office
Director - Charles Roosen Ph.D.
Charles - has 15 years of experience working in commercial software development and professional services for data analysis. Charles holds a Doctorate in Statistics from Stanford University, and a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics from Trinity University. After graduating from Stanford, Charles went to work at MathSoft (now part of TIBCO Software) where he served in a wide variety of positions including Lead Course Developer, Product Manager, Technical Lead, Senior Engineering Manager, Senior Consultant, and Director of Life Science Solutions Development. He worked as a technical lead and single-contributor on a wide range of S+ products including S+, S+Server, S+FAMEConnector, S+FinMetrics, S+SeqTrial, Insightful Miner, and Insightful Clinical Graphics. Charles left TIBCO in 2009 to join Mango Solutions as a Technical Director and founding partner for the Swiss subsidiary Mango Solutions AG.
Director - Tillmann Krahnke Ph.D.
Tillmann has more than 17 years of experience of working and teaching S and S+, including publication of a book (with Dr. A. Scheffner). He studied in Dortmund, Germany and Ames, Iowa (USA) and holds a Diploma and Doctorate degree in Statistics from the University of Dortmund, Department of Statistics. In the late 1990's and early 2000's, Tillmann held various positions at the Universities of Dortmund and Augsburg, but also acted as consultant for the Swiss distributor of S+ at the time, COMSOL AG. Before joining the Swiss subsidiary Mango Solutions AG as Technical Director and founding partner, Tillmann has gained eight years of experience as a Biostatistician in Clinical Drug Development (Oncology) at Novartis Pharma AG working with SAS and S+, supporting various Clinical trials in Phases II-IV, and contributing to various submissions to Health Authorities.
China office
Head of Development, China – Fan Shao MSc
Fan joined Mango in 2007 and initially worked in our UK office before opening Mango’s Shanghai office to further the company’s expansion in the Far East. Fan holds an MSc in Software Engineering from the University of York and since joining Mango has worked on PME, ModReport, iNCAS, ZebraFish and PCAT amongst other software development projects.
